Step 1: Prepare the Brush and Toothpaste

1. Charge the toothbrush. Make sure the device is fully charged before the first use. Most models come with a USB cable or a charging base. A full charge can last for several weeks.
2. Apply a small amount of toothpaste. Take a pea-sized amount of children's toothpaste (either gel or foam) and apply it to the inner grooves on both sides of the U-shaped brush head.
3. Moisten the brush head. Before placing it in your child's mouth, you can wet the brush head with a little water. This helps the toothpaste spread more easily and activates the foaming action.

Step 2: Brushing Technique

1. Place the brush in your child's mouth. Gently guide the U-shaped head into your child's mouth so that it wraps around their upper and lower teeth at the same time.
2. Press the power button. Press the button to turn the toothbrush on. The device will start to vibrate and often has a built-in timer.
3. Encourage your child to bite down gently. Tell your child to bite down on the brush head. The soft silicone bristles are designed to make contact with all surfaces of the teeth—the top, front, and back.
4. Move the brush side to side. While the brush is vibrating, your child should gently move it from side to side or in small circular motions. This is crucial for making sure the bristles reach all the nooks and crannies, especially the back molars.
5. Wait for the timer to finish. The toothbrush will automatically shut off after the recommended brushing time, which is usually 45-60 seconds.

Step 3: After-Brushing Care

1. Have your child spit and rinse. Once the brushing cycle is complete, have your child spit out the excess toothpaste and rinse their mouth with water.
2. Clean the toothbrush. Detach the U-shaped brush head and rinse it thoroughly under warm running water. It's important to keep the brush head clean to prevent the buildup of toothpaste and bacteria.
3. Store it properly. Place the brush on its charging base or in a cool, dry place until the next use.

Important Tips for Parents:

• Supervise your child. Dentists recommend supervising your child's brushing until they are at least 6-8 years old. With a U-shaped toothbrush, the supervision is more about ensuring they use it correctly and consistently.
• Don't press too hard. There is no need for your child to bite down with a lot of force. The vibrations and bristles do the work.
• Choose the right size. Ensure you have the correct size brush head for your child's age group to guarantee it fits their mouth properly and cleans effectively.
• Consider a manual follow-up. While these toothbrushes are excellent for making brushing easier, some dentists still recommend a quick once-over with a manual toothbrush to ensure no spots are missed, especially until you are confident in the device's cleaning effectiveness.
